WHAT IS REIKI + SOUND? Reiki is a Japanese "laying of hands" healing technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing across mind, body, and spirit. This practice is based on the idea that an unseen life force energy (called by many names in various belief systems such as Ch’i, Ki, Prana, Mana, or Ruach) flows through everyone and everything, giving us life, and that Reiki practitioners can utilize certain hand positions to channel this energy. Low, blocked, or unbalanced energy can manifest in various ways, including, but not limited to, illnesses, bodily aches and pains, and increased, heightened, and/or unbalanced emotions. If our life force energy is flowing and balanced, however, we are more capable of living a joyful, abundant, authentic, and aligned life. 

This flow and balance can not only be achieved through Reiki, but also sound healing - an ancient practice based on the principle that everything in the universe is comprised of energy, sounds, frequencies, and vibrations, and that specific sounds, frequencies, and vibrations can be used to balance and harmonize this energy inside each of us. As a Certified Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Practitioner (Level II), I pair Reiki practices with sound healing instruments to create a deeply immersive, full-body healing opportunity that can shift your brainwaves into a relaxed state, allowing your nervous system to relax. In this state, your natural healing mechanisms can work more effectively to bring you back into vibrational alignment and balance across mind, body, and spirit. 

WHAT TO EXPECT: Each session lasts approximately 60 minutes and you remain fully clothed while lying down comfortably on a massage table. In most cases, you will be lying on your back, but the session is adaptable if needed to maximize your comfort. Before your session, you will be asked to complete a brief questionnaire to provide information critical to customizing the healing session to meet your physical, emotional, mental, and/or spiritual needs. Based on these responses, specific sound healing instruments and Reiki techniques/hand positions will be chosen to use on and/or around the body to maximize healing potential. 

Common examples of instruments I may use in some combination during Reiki + Sound sessions include, but are not limited to, crystal and/or Tibetan (aka Himalayan) singing bowls, tuning forks, my Heng gong named "Sunny", and  Tingsha cymbals. The sounds produced by these instruments - which have historical reputations for promoting healing - invite you into a deeper state of consciousness, serve as an opportunity to unplug from external stimuli, and promote self-inquiry/discovery. I invite you to learn more about my instruments here. 

Please note some Reiki practitioners choose a "hands-on" approach to Reiki by laying their hands on certain areas of the body to channel the flow of energy and others choose a "hands-off" approach by simply hovering their hands over certain areas of the body to channel the energy flow. Some practitioners choose to use a combination of hands-on and hands-off. During my sessions, I adopt a hands-off approach; however, I do place vibrating, Reiki-infused tuning forks on various areas of your body to help address your responses to the aforementioned questionnaire.

LOCATION: This service is available either on a come-to-you basis or an in-person appointment at the Holistic Health Collective (3368 Beltline Ct, Grand Rapids, MI 49525). Upon booking, we will work together to determine the best option for you and your comfort.

WHAT TO BRING:  Please come as you are. I do, however, recommend wearing cozy clothes (nothing too bulky) and bringing plenty of water for post session hydration.

• Tingling or itching sensations (signs of stagnant energy release)
