TICKETS. The Summer Solstice marks the longest day of the year and offers us a sacred opportunity to pause and focus on releasing what is no longer serving us across mind, body, and spirit so we can welcome the new season with greater capacity, clarity, direction, and balance.
You’re invited to join me in celebrating the longest day of the year with So Hum Yoga Studio during the So Hum Summer Solstice Celebration - a full-day community wellness gathering honoring movement, nature, and connection. I’m honored to be facilitating a soothing and restorative 60-minute sound bath as part of the event’s opening ceremony and the sound bath begins at approximately 11:00 a.m. The opening ceremony begins at 10:00 a.m. with 108 Sun Salutations and the sound bath immediately follows the salutations, however, it is difficult to predict exactly how long they will take to complete. *Please note you do not have to participate in the Sun Salutations to participate in the sound bath.
WHAT IS A SOUND BATH? Sound healing is based on the principle that everything in the universe is comprised of energy, frequencies, and vibrations, and that specific sounds, vibrations, and frequencies can be used to balance and harmonize this energy inside each of us. A sound bath is a deeply immersive, non-invasive, full-body listening experience during which various instruments produce these sounds, frequencies, and vibrations that have the power to shift brainwaves into a deeply relaxed state. In this state, your nervous system can relax and release, allowing your natural healing abilities to work more effectively. This can help bring you back into vibrational and energetic alignment across mind, body, and spirit.
Common examples of instruments used during sound baths include crystal and/or Tibetan (aka Himalayan) singing bowls, tuning forks, gongs, chimes, cymbals, drums, rain sticks, the human voice, and more. During sound baths, I primarily play a varying combination of 8 pure quartz crystal singing bowls, a Heng gong, a Freenotes Wave, Tibetan singing bowls, and Tingsha cymbals. The sounds produced by these instruments - which have historical reputations for promoting healing - invite you into a deeper state of consciousness, serve as an opportunity to unplug from external stimuli, and promote self-inquiry/discovery. I invite you to learn more about my instruments here.
The celebration, which takes place Sunday, June 21, from 9:00 a.m.- 8:00 p.m. at Millennium Park’s Grant Pavilion in Grand Rapids, will bring together sound healing, yoga (kid- and family-friendly included), meditation, a scenic 5K walk/run, 1:1 holistic wellness services, local practitioners, space to simply rest, and more.
Event tickets start at $45 per person. The sound bath is included in main event ticket price, however, the Tuning Fork Therapy sessions described below are an additional cost.
TUNING FORK THERAPY 1:1 MINI SESSIONS
I’m also excited to share that following the sound bath, I will have 10 slots available for 15-minute Tuning Fork Therapy mini sessions for $25 each from 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. at the event. *Please note these sessions are add-on purchases to your main ticket and can either be reserved before or during the event (link coming soon!).
WHAT IS TUNING FORK THERAPY? Tuning Fork Therapy uses tuning forks (non-invasive acoustic instruments) to produce sounds, vibrations, and frequencies when activated at specific areas on and/or around the body. In this way, tuning forks are used as a form of “sonic acupuncture” to help break up and release stuck energy, allowing the body to heal and function more effectively over time. Layers of tension build up when we experience stress or trauma or repress emotions without honoring and processing these experiences. These low vibrations can become so dense they manifest emotionally and physically as pains, illnesses, and unhealthy mindsets. During Tuning Fork Therapy, I place activated/vibrating tuning forks on and/or around the body to spread strategically selected frequencies and vibrations throughout the body to balance the body’s natural healing mechanisms and chakras (energy centers). To learn more, I invite you to visit my Tuning Fork Therapy service page.
WHAT TO BRING: For both the Sound Bath and Tuning Fork Therapy sessions, please come as you are. I do, however, recommend wearing cozy clothes (nothing too bulky for Tuning Fork Therapy sessions) and bringing plenty of water for post session hydration. For the Sound Bath, you are encouraged to bring your own yoga mat and other items needed to maximize your comfort. For Tuning Fork Therapy sessions, please note you will be laying comfortably on a padded massage table for approximately 15 minutes and an eye mask and blankets will be provided if desired as these sessions will take place outdoors.
Some of the potential benefits of attending sound baths or participating in Tuning Fork Therapy in a single session or regularly over time include, but are not limited to:
😮💨 Stress reduction and anxiety relief
😴 Improved sleep quality
🧠 Enhanced mental clarity and focus
🙏 Deepened spiritual insights and connections
🩹 Physical healing and pain relief (e.g., reduced inflammation and arthritis symptoms and increased digestion support)
🤲 Emotional exploration and the release of past traumas, grief, emotions, and/or negative energy
I invite you to sign up to stay connected with new events, offerings, specials, and more
